Her influence strutted far and wide—taking root and evolving unique personalities in the workshops across Indian regions such as Gujrat, Rajastan, Punjab, South India, and across borders to Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal and Sri Lanka!. She’s a style icon across South Asia and across borders.

These shoes are often hand-crafted, with each pair reflecting and representing diverse artisanal and regional creativity and craftsmanship from different the various different regions and localities.

Originally, these were royal flexes. Crafted for nobility from the finest leather, velvet, and brocade, they were embroidered with real gold thread, tiny mirrors, and vibrant patterns, colours and prints—a literal walking masterpiece. But don't be fooled by the glamour; her DNA is deeply practical. The jutti’s genius silhouette evolved from the sensible, everyday shoes worn by ordinary people long before the royals claimed her.

And centuries later? She’s still THE GUEST at every wedding, festival, and major celebration from Mumbai to Manhattan, seamlessly fusing tradition with personal style.

The Traditional Jutti: Why We Love It
(and Why We Reimagined It)

The traditional jutti is a design icon — shaped by generations of craftsmanship, culture, and quiet genius.

Its intelligent design: the classic "M" toe shape gives toes space to breathe, and the structure is built without a left or right distinction, allowing the shoe to gradually mold to the wearer's feet. The silhouette is minimal, symmetrical, and — in its own way — incredibly intuitive. A true example of form meeting function.

But for all its beauty, it comes with limitations:

•  The sole is often paper-thin, offering little to no support.
•  Cushioning is minimal, and arch comfort is rarely part of the conversation.
•  The intricate upper is artistically adorned — but the overall construction isn't built for long days, or long distances.
•  It often requires a break-in period, complete with painful pinches.
•  It's not made to last — and in most cases, it's not meant to.

These beautiful, handcrafted pairs are often worn in moments — and replaced easily.

So yes, the jutti is legendary.
