The Jutti, Re‑Routed: What We're Building and Why
The Jutti, Re‑Routed: Chic Jutti Flats for your everyday!
A jutti (khussa/mojari), explained—plus why we’re rebuilding this iconic South Asian flat into a chic, city‑ready everyday shoe.
The classic South Asian flat—made for the way we actually move.
A jutti (also called khussa or mojari) is a traditional South Asian pair of flats which is also just another word meaning shoes. Handcrafted and deeply rooted, it’s been worn everywhere from celebrations to everyday life across India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and beyond.
What makes a jutti a jutti
- The M‑toe silhouette
- Handcrafted uppers
- That timeless shape
The problem
Traditional juttis are beautiful — but many weren't built for city streets. Made with thin soles, minimal support, and a painful break‑in period.
What we’re building at mūla‑mārga
A city‑ready jutti flat: Chic enough for dinner. Comfortable enough for 10k steps.
The essentials:
Roomier M‑toe: Your toes will thank you. Silently.
Cushioned insole: Cushion that doesn't quit by 3pm
Built‑in arch support. For the long days
Heel comfort + better grip. For real sidewalks & pavements
Minimal break‑in. Comfortable from first wear
If you've ever loved jutti's but hated the pinch, the paper‑thin sole, or the “special occasion only” reality—this is for you.
